Does a chameleon know
what colour is it’s own?
Wanting to be part of,
yet never fully grasping.
I am,
but I’m not.
The world unites in me,
while fragmenting my identity.
The fragments are the nations,
and the nations make up me.
A puzzle of a person,
I am incomplete,
without all parts.
Wherever I am,
a part of me will be,
but the tugging in my heart,
marks the absence of the rest.
Perpetual waves of emotion,
transport me across the ocean,
seeking acceptance,
seeking me.
Not who am I?
- but who am I not?
And where is the place,
where I may be
complete?
The place where nations
gather around your throne,
where every sound,
every colour,
every dance,
unite to worship you,
there I find release.
Yet only for a while.
For ‘tis only you and I,
that see
the world in me.
